What Is Micro & Nano Needling?

Micro and Nano Needling treatments use a pen-like device that oscillates a tip up and down to stimulate a skin reaction. They both initiate cell turnover, serum infusion and trigger the healing process that results in skin transformation.

Micro-Needling is the insertion of very fine, short needles into the skin which creates micro channels. When those channels are created the skin’s own repair response is to start producing collagen and elastin, this is to heal that controlled injury that was just created. This in turn make your skin tighter and smoother. Depending on the depth of the needle penetration, this can offer skin rejuvenation levels from the simple enhancement of product absorption to the clinical treatment of scars and wrinkles.

Nano-Needling uses the same type of oscillating motion to treat the skin but the cartridge encompasses 81 silicone tips. These microscopic hair-like cones separate the cells within the epidermis to allow active products to be pushed into the skin. Nano-Needling only affects the epidermis, treating within the upper .15 mm of the skin. The benefits of this infusing serums include pigmentation reduction, increased cell turnover, skin rejuvenation and an immediate glow with no downtime. This treatment can be done weekly to exfoliate the skin.

areas of possible treatment

Micro-Needling Therapy also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), and Percutaneous (through the skin) Collagen Induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of the high speed Micro-Needle Pen.

The mechanical action of the pen allows the needles to puncture the skin and create a controlled injury at a specific depth. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the bodies natural healing process to fill these micro wounds by producing new collagen and elastin in the papillary dermis. In addition, new capillaries are formed for improved blood supply.

With Micro-Needling, the top layer of the skin is parted without being damaged, leaving the skin intact.  It does not “burn” your skin like peels or more invasive lasers. The needle penetration depth can be adjusted from 0.25mm to 2.50mm into the skin depending on the area of the body and the skin condition being treated. Using skin needling consistently will trigger the bodies repair process until the desired level of skin rejuvenation is achieved.

Micro-Needling results in the production of new collagen and elastin, improvement in skin tone and texture, firmness as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

The treatment uses the same Micro-Needle Pen but the needle tip is an array of 81 pyramid-like Nano mono-crystalline silicone pins. Each pin on the array has a diameter smaller than a single strand of human hair, which is almost invisible to the naked eye. During the treatment, the pins are only inserted a maximum depth of .25mm of the top layer of the epidermis, When these pins gently touch the skin, they create hundreds of thousands of Nano Channels within 5-10 minutes.

As a result, the skin cells re-arrange themselves to allow nutrition to pass through the skin barrier to help the absorption from active ingredients in the skin care products and effectively feed the skin  to stimulate collagen and elastin production. This treatment instantly allows up to 1000% more absorption of whatever skin care products you use. Skin naturally absorbs the active ingredients many times more effective through the nano channels, thus refining wrinkles, reducing scarring, improving hyperpigmentation and other skin imperfections and restoring the overall health of the skin. Within 15 minutes, after the treatment, the skin cells in perforated layer return to their original position.

For optimal results a series of 4 treatments, spaced 1 week apart, followed by 4 treatments spaces 2 weeks apart is recommended for best result. Your results will depend on your skin’s condition and follow through with at-home care. Once your recommended series is completed, 1 maintenance treatment every 4-6 weeks is recommended. Dr. Chantelle will work closely with you to determine the best course of action for your desired results.

The quality of our skin has a direction connection with the foods we eat. There are foods and supplements we can eat that will improve the overall quality of our skin. Aztazanthin if a well know skin enhancer and Turmeric is well known anti-inflammatory. As a general starter I recommend the Nutragen AOmega Fish Oil as it contains both of Aztazanthin and Turmeric along with other nutritionally beneficial ingredients.

The fatty acids in fish oil supply hydration to your skin and help with inflammation. “Taking any kind of fish oil is like putting oil in your engine to run smoothly. Fish oil is great for your heart and health but especially your skin,” reducing acne and warding off wrinkles.

Many people consume fish or fish oil supplements to promote hair growth and prevent hair loss, suggesting that the omega-3 found in fish oil: provides essential proteins and nutrients to hair follicles and skin. prevents hair follicle inflammation — a factor that can directly contribute to hair loss.

Fish oil contains two main types of omega-3 fatty acids: docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). DHA keeps the brain functioning properly. And EPA greatly benefits skin by regulating oil production to boost hydration and prevent acne, and by delaying the skins aging process to stave off wrinkles.

Reducing the amount of sugar and high carbohydrates in your diet will reduce the inflammatory response and also have positive effect on your skin.
